Earls Farm Good Life Community Allotment

Earls Farm Cattery

Here at Earls Farm we believe in the importance of Health and Wellbeing.

Allotments can provide a valuable community spirit and are a great way of connecting with people and nature.

As the cost of living continues to rise, we at Earls Farm are committed to providing veggie boxes that are reasonably priced and full of natural, organic goodness, with surplus plants and produce being donated to our local charities.

Nothing beats the sense of achievement in growing something from seed, putting nutritious organic and sumptuously delicious food on the table and that is what we at Earls Farm, ’Good Life’ growers are doing for you!

Our allotment growers choose to garden organically and avoid ingesting chemicals that are likely to be present on shop bought fruit and vegetables.

Being able to grow and eat something organically grown is hard to beat, especially knowing exactly what you're eating, where it's come from and how long it's travelled before arriving to be with you.

Connecting with Our Nature and Wildlife

According to the National Allotment Society, 1sq m of land can support hundreds of different species of wildlife. So, by cultivating an allotment, this is helping to create much needed habitats for our bees and other wildlife without which our ecosystem would suffer.

Physical and Mental Health Benefits

For many people an allotment can be a place of sanctuary, where growing organic food and vegetables is not only nourishing, it is an achievement and it’s cost-effective too!

Tending your plot can help support your physical health and fitness too, with digging, turning, or raking compost being a form of ‘aerobic’ exercise.

Physical exercise and being outdoors also contributes to our mental health and wellbeing, making us feel calmer and less anxious.

Gardening can also be beneficial to cognitive and motor skills for people with debilitating illnesses.  With simple sun exposure increasing vitamin D levels and lowering blood pressure.

So, whether you are socialising and enjoying the natural outdoors, interacting with the wonderful wildlife, connecting to the joyful seasons, or relaxing in your own space amongst other gardening lovers, the wide spectrum of mental health benefits is increasingly being heeded.
